How to choose your Google Business Profile categories
Your primary category has the biggest effect on which searches you show up for on Google Maps. Pick the one that describes your main service most exactly, for example "Plumber" rather than "Contractor".
Then add secondary categories for other services you really offer. Use the related list to find ones you might have missed, like "Water heater installation service" for a plumber.
Where do these categories come from?
The list is pulled from Google's own Business Profile category list every week, so new and renamed categories show up quickly. Categories differ slightly by country, so pick yours above.
