Lesson 6 of 6 · Social search and brand discovery

Keep access healthy and review what changes

What it is

Google periodically rechecks ownership. If the connection expires or is lost, report access can pause until you verify again. Follow the platform property's re-verification prompts. Google says access returns to the same report after re-verification without another wait for data to accumulate. If the platform choices are missing, check the current help page and try again later. Do not install an untrusted extension or share your password with someone promising to unlock the rollout. If reports are empty, check the selected property, verification status, setup date and date range. Allow the documented few days for a new property. A missing query may reflect reporting limits or missing data, not zero demand. Use a simple monthly note: account, period, top relevant topic, change made, Google clicks and impressions, and separately measured enquiries. Compare equal periods and keep the original dates. Google discovery is one part of the funnel, not the whole customer journey. Read the companion article or review Google's full analysis guide.

Why it matters

A stable review routine is more useful than reacting to every daily movement. Keep website performance, social discovery and local Maps visibility as related but separate views.

✓ Good example

You note that a caption changed on a specific date, compare equal periods later, and keep website enquiries separate from social-property clicks.

✗ Common mistake

Promising an instant lift, claiming a missing report means a ban, or calling every Google click a lead.

You pass when: You have written a monthly review checklist and know where to return if ownership verification expires.
