Lesson 4 of 6 · Web addresses

Prefer folders over subdomains for related content

What it is

Put your blog and service areas in folders (example.com/blog) rather than separate subdomains (blog.example.com) unless there's a technical reason.

Why it matters

Google can treat subdomains more like separate sites, so links and trust built on the main site may not flow as easily.

✓ Good example

example.com/blog/how-to-flush-a-water-heater

✗ Common mistake

A blog hosted on a different platform at blog.example.com with no links back.

You pass when: Blog and location pages live under the main domain.
