Lesson 2 of 6 · Web addresses

Separate words with hyphens

What it is

Use hyphens (-) between words in addresses. Avoid underscores, spaces and run-together words.

Why it matters

Google treats hyphens as word breaks, so 'ac-repair' reads as two words. 'ac_repair' or 'acrepair' may not.

✓ Good example

/emergency-plumber

✗ Common mistake

/Emergency_Plumber or /emergencyplumber

You pass when: Addresses are lowercase with hyphens between words.
