Lesson 5 of 11 · Worked examples
Worked example: a local photographer's profile
What it is
All businesses and sample copy in this course are fictional. Adapt the structure to your own verified facts, permissions and actual offers. Lantern Frame Photography is an on-location photographer serving Canton and North Canton. It visits customers and does not receive them at its home office. Its address is hidden; its service areas and hours reflect reality. Category: choose the available category that best describes its main photography business. Add more specific categories only for genuine core work; check the current regional list in the free GBP Category Checker. Services to add: • Business headshots: planning, on-location portraits and selected edited images; licensing and team size agreed in the quote. • Family portrait sessions: an agreed outdoor location and selected edited images; weather rescheduling terms confirmed before booking. • Product photography: studio or on-location photography of the customer's physical items; styling and deliverables agreed separately. Photo plan: a permitted headshot example; a family portrait with explicit permission from everyone required, including guardian permission for children; a behind-the-scenes lighting setup; the photographer at work; and a print sample if genuinely sold. Avoid showing a client's home address, confidential materials or identifiable people without permission. Sample Update: 'Planning team headshots in Canton? We can bring a lighting setup to your workplace. Before the session we agree image style, team size and permitted uses. View our headshot information to request a quote.' Use a relevant approved portfolio photo and the matching service-page link. A service-only profile does not need invented physical products. If it really sells prints through an eligible local shop, use Product Editor for those goods only.
Why it matters
A focused profile gives a prospective customer a coherent picture of who the photographer serves, what they can book and what the work looks like.
✓ Good example
The portfolio image, service description, website and quote all describe the same headshot offering. The photographer obtained permission to use the subject's image for promotion.
✗ Common mistake
Stock portraits presented as the photographer's own work, invented awards, 'Google approved photographer' claims without authorization, or a fabricated walk-in studio.
You pass when: You can draft accurate services, select five permission-cleared photo subjects and write one specific update for a photographer.
