Lesson 4 of 11 · Services and products

Add physical products when your profile is eligible

What it is

Google's Product Editor is intended for local stores selling physical goods. Availability varies; some profiles use Merchant Center instead. Do not disguise services as products simply because an Edit products button is visible. 1. Open your managed profile in Google Search and look for Edit products. If it is absent or routes to Merchant Center, follow that supported route; do not change to an inaccurate category to unlock it. 2. Choose Add product if offered. Add a real product name, a clear photo you have rights to use, and the requested product category. 3. Fill in an accurate description and price where the editor provides those fields. If a product landing-page link is available, link to that exact item with current availability and pricing. 4. Select Publish or Save as shown. Check its review status and what is actually displayed. Product submissions must follow Google's Shopping policies; submission does not guarantee display. 5. Update sold-out, discontinued or repriced items. Do not imply an item is immediately available when it must be ordered. Fictional example: Lantern Frame Photography operates a genuine customer-facing shop and sells a physical 'Canton skyline fine-art print'. A listing could describe the print size, paper, whether a frame is included, collection/delivery options and actual price. The photograph and landing page must match the item. A portrait session, editing package or video shoot belongs in Services. An online-only print seller is not made eligible for a Business Profile by using Product Editor. If products are unavailable, list services normally and link the profile website to your own truthful product information. Official references: About Product Editor and automatic in-store product eligibility.

Why it matters

Products help customers inspect actual goods; inventing inventory or mislabelling services misleads them. Manual product entry and automated store inventory are different systems with different eligibility requirements.

✓ Good example

A real physical framed print shown in a sharp product photo, with correct dimensions, material, price and availability. A film-production package is listed under Services instead.

✗ Common mistake

Uploading 'Wedding photography package' as if it were physical stock, listing prohibited goods, using stolen catalogue photos, false sale prices or links that lead to a different product.

You pass when: You have checked product eligibility, separated services from physical goods, and verified every product's image, details, price and availability.
