What happened

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the Performance report in Google Search Console was showing data more than 64 hours old, according to Search Engine Roundtable. Later the same day the gap narrowed to roughly 44 hours. The report normally updates within a few hours.

The delay arrived at the tail end of the September 2026 spam update rollout. Google had not commented publicly at the time of writing, and no cause has been confirmed.

Our take

This is a reporting delay, not a search outage. Google's Search Status Dashboard showed no active crawling, indexing, ranking or serving incident. Your rankings and calls don't depend on how fresh the chart is.

The risk is misreading it: the last few days of the chart look like a sudden drop in clicks, right when many agencies are checking for spam update fallout.

What to do

  1. Don't report a traffic drop to clients based on the last 3 days of Search Console data until it catches up.
  2. Add an annotation for October 9 to 12 in your reporting dashboards.
  3. Use other signals for this week: Google Business Profile calls and direction requests, call tracking, form fills and analytics.
  4. Re-check spam update comparisons once the missing days are filled in.

We'll update this story when Google confirms the cause or the data catches up.
