What happened

Bing Webmaster Tools has introduced Topics Portfolio, a beta view of sites’ presence across thematic AI Search clusters. It combines portfolio-level context with query-level opportunities to support growth planning.

Each topic shows Topic Size, Sites Cited and Queries, indicating demand, competition and activity. Topic detail pages separate existing grounding queries from Opportunity Queries where other sites appear.

Bing cautions that AI-generated classifications and ecosystem metrics are approximate. Users should treat the results as directional and provide feedback through built-in controls.

Our take

For local businesses and their agencies, this looks useful as a planning aid rather than a definitive performance scorecard. In our view, the distinction between existing grounding queries and opportunities could help focus content reviews on topics relevant to the business.

The announcement does not confirm location-level reporting. We would not assume that topic demand reflects demand in a particular service area.

What to do

  1. Review topics relevant to your services, using Topic Size, Sites Cited and Queries as directional context.
  2. Compare existing grounding queries with Opportunity Queries, then assess whether those opportunities match your customers’ needs.
  3. Check AI-generated classifications before using them to guide content priorities, and report questionable results through the built-in feedback controls.
