Lesson 3 of 3 · Website SEO
Website SEO: improve the audited landing page
What it is
Start with the exact page named in your audit, not every page on the website. A missing observation should be checked on the current published page before it is treated as an error. 1. Open the audited URL and identify the relevant service page in your website editor. Confirm that it represents the correct business and service. 2. Give the page a unique, descriptive title. Use a clear main heading and useful section headings. Write a factual meta description instead of a keyword list. Google may choose a different title or snippet. 3. Explain the service, where it is genuinely offered, what customers can expect and how to enquire. Include original supporting evidence you are allowed to share. Avoid thin copied pages for every nearby city. 4. Link the page from useful navigation or related service pages. Test phone links, forms and other contact buttons on a phone. 5. Publish changes and use the free on-page SEO checker, meta tag generator and website speed test on the same URL. Fix accessibility and loading problems that affect real customers. 6. With verified website access, inspect the URL in Search Console. Review crawl and indexing information. Confirm the page does not unintentionally block indexing; robots.txt controls crawling and is not a reliable way to remove a page from search. 7. Record the changes and date. Review Search Console queries and pages after Google has had time to recrawl. Its average position is not a Maps position or the exact rank from your audit. Why it matters
A useful, accessible service page helps customers understand the offer and lets search engines discover and interpret the content. Publishing an edit does not guarantee indexing, a particular snippet or improved rankings.
✓ Good example
Fictional example: Maple Leaf Plumbing & Heating uses “Furnace Repair in Canton | Maple Leaf Plumbing & Heating” for its genuine furnace repair page, explains the service and offers a working enquiry button.
✗ Common mistake
Stuffing the city and keyword into every sentence, copying a competitor’s text, inventing locations, disabling indexing by accident or treating a high checker score as guaranteed Google authority.
You pass when: Confirm the title, heading, description, service information and contact links on the published page. Review any reported issue before changing code, and ask the website provider for help with unfamiliar settings.
